Colombia had a very bad rap 20 years ago… But that was 20 years ago!

A lot has changed, and Colombia has very quickly turned into a HOT travel destination for many. It’s safe, the people are some of the friendliest in the world, and the climate is perfect!

If your South American travel plans take you through Colombia (which they should), be sure to pass through a small town called Guatape.

Once you are there… Here are the top 5 things to do in Guatape! – Or at least, I think you should do.

#1 – Climb the ROCK.

Yes, there is a big a$$ rock on one end of town, you will see it as you drive in… It’s the 2nd biggest rock in the world, and the view from the top is EPIC!!!

There’s a 740 step concrete staircase built into the site of the rock so it makes getting up a 30-minute uphill slog.

But for the view, It’s a must!

And also makes for a good little workout…

#2 – Jet Ski / Flyboard

If you’re after something a little more adrenaline filled they have Fly Boards and plenty of Jet Skis in town!

I had my first ever attempt at fly boarding and loved it.

#3 – Zipline through town

Yes, there is a massive zip line that almost scales the entire length of Guatape!

It only takes a few minutes, but the view from the top is amazing.

#4 – Explore on Bike

You can hire motorbikes for a very reasonable price and cruise around the nearby mountains and explore the area of Guatape.

This was my first time ever riding a manual motorbike, and I loved it!

#5 – Walk

Guatape is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever experienced. Take a walk through the streets and you will be amazed by the architecture and colours of the buildings.

Grab yourself a fresh empanada (local food) along the way, and you are good to go!
