Internet Marketing Is Big Business For Young Entrepreneurs
Much of the middle working class is being replaced by technology.
Self-service checkouts and applications like Uber are shifting industries completely.
The world is changing right in front of our eyes.
It’s simple to see the change that’s happening in the world right now. When you walk into a grocery store, half of the checkout operators have been replaced with ‘self-service’ checkouts.
Then you walk out the door and into the Uber that is ready and waiting for your arrival.
Technology has already changed the way we live.
Think about all of the taxi drivers that had it good for so many years. Many are either suffering a massive decline in customers, or are forced to buy a new car, a smartphone, and download an app called Uber.
This isn’t a bad thing though. The drivers that do make the shift are making more money now, and have more freedom to work on their schedules. – Well, that’s what the 20+ Uber drivers I’ve asked have told me. Things may change.
Technology is closing many doors, and opening new ones… And it’s up to us as individuals to take advantage of this shift as best we can.
Right now could not be a better time to build, or grow your business online.
Social Media is at an all-time high. People are watching less TV and more Netflix. They’re not sending texts anymore; they’re on Whats App or Messanger. And many of us aren’t leaving our house to go shopping. Instead, we buy online.
The power of marketing and advertising is no longer in the hands of the corporate world like it once was.
It’s shifting towards the individual creators and good internet marketers that are placing useful content in front of millions of eyeballs.
Take what I have done for example. I am just a middleman.
I learned the art of internet marketing through online courses, and have managed to strategically place my content in front of the right people (those that want to see it). It has lead to partnerships and opened opportunities that very few have access to.
I know people who have studied marketing for years in college and are struggling to find a job. And I have clients come to me asking for help, which seems strange considering I have no “formal education” in marketing. But that’s what the internet can do.
Now I’m no genius or guru. But by connecting people with what they want I have built a cool little business for myself that is massively scalable.
Note: “Massively Scaleable”- this is where it gets interesting.
Because once you understand internet marketing and advertising, you can scale very, very quickly.
For example, If you spend $135 on advertising to make $90 in sales what do you do?
Ok, that didn’t work…. You re-adjust.
Then you spend $135 on advertising to make $246 in sales what do you do?
Spend More.. (Scale)
Once you find a winning formula online, skies the limit. Because with the number of people online, your audience is instantly much greater than what it would be in ay one town, city, or even county.
You simply turn up the budget on your advertising to scale your business as large as you can without raising the cost per sale too high.
This is why I constantly tell my readers to follow this post and start blogging.
Because if you can build an audience of readers that follow your content, you have the power to advertise your own products and services, or other people’s goods and services. Better yet, if you understand marketing. You can run ads and place your content right in front of the people you want to see it.
This opens up the question: How does one learn Internet Marketing?
Well here are a few things I would suggest if you are an individual who is interested in internet marketing. The first is to understand that the internet is always changing.
The first is to understand that the internet is always changing.
What works today may not work tomorrow. However, whatever product or service you wish to promote, it always comes down to connecting the right audience with the right customer.
Here’s what I mean, and how you can take this and apply it yourself:
If I was a Vegan, and I am into healthy living. This is what I would do:
#1. Start a Blog. Let’s call it EpicVeganMeals.com
#2. Build a Facebook Page, Pinterest Account, and Instagram profile for Epic Vegan Meals.
#3. Share a ton of GREAT information about vegan meals on the blog (note, quality over quantity). Things like recipes. Tips. Health Benefits. Why anyone who is not a Vegan should become one (joking on the last one lol).
I would do as much as I can to build a following around the brand Epic Vegan Meals. It will be a small following (few hundred) but that’s ok.
#4. Introduce offers within my blog through items I recommend.
To do this I would partner with companies that offer a % in commissions from the products I sell. Each post could link to one main offer.
#5. Make a downloadable recipe book in PDF format which people can purchase for $10 or less.
I would do this so I can scale my blog and following using paid advertising to promote this recipe book which will pay for advertising.
From there my audience will grow much quicker. As it grows, I will build different partnerships, make commissions from advertising on my site, and the affiliate links within my blog posts.
I would also think about starting a YouTube channel around Vegan living to try and accumulate a more engaged following who want to try my recipes etc. – This will bring revenue in YouTube ads and of course bring more readers to my site.
Was that clear?
…Of course, this is just one example in one niche, but there are thousands of different things you could do here.
I get that this is great and sounds easy in theory but a daunting task to put into practice. …where do I start?
One thing I now know is that learning marketing and advertising was what ultimately gave me the edge in the beginning.
Things like learning how to build my own sales offers and sales funnels. As I would keep my branding, messaging, and design consistent with all of my content.
A sales funnel is the process someone has to go through to buy something from you. (don’t get confused here, it’s quite simple).
For example, you might want to share the Recipe book you just created.
To do this you will want to create sales pages and checkout pages so people can buy it. Then have it delivered via email, and have their email address saved for future contact.
This can be done easily, you just need to learn how.
I took this course called Funnel University by the guy who created ClickFunnels.
This helped me understand the process a buyer must go through when purchasing items online, and how I can take readers of one topic and send them offers on that topic. I do recommend this course. Just be aware it is quite advanced when it comes to marketing. So if you haven’t yet built a site I would suggest doing so first.
Then check out his first tutorial here.
If you understand the marketing side of things, you will realise it’s not just about getting likes on social media or having lots of fans, it’s better to have an engaged audience who really like what you are doing.
or simply Jump on YouTube
If you’re strapped for cash, and you want to learn marketing, jump on YouTube.
There are thousands of tutorials out there, though just be aware most will give you a taste of a strategy before leading you to buy something. (YouTuber’s want to make money too ya know..)
I would suggest you focus on these few things to start:
- Set up a Facebook Page, YouTube Account, Instagram, and Pinterest for your business. (or chose 1 or 2 to focus on)
- Learn how to best communicate your message to your audience.
- Build sales funnels with different offers that link to related products.
- Place adverts to put your content in front of your customers.
- Create meaning and useful content that people will read and engage with.
- Create your own e-commerce store with Shopify. If you want to sell physical products.
Like I said earlier…
There is a MASSIVE opportunity out there for individuals like me and you.
And you don’t need any ‘education’ to have success as an internet marketer, blogger, advertiser, affiliate, or e-commerce store owner… Although you do have to learn.
I personally dropped out of school at 15 to work in a surf shop haha… So a little self-education can go a long way!
Programs like Funnel University did help me a lot though, so you will likely have to invest in some form of training at some point.
Also, my partner Hannah & I put together detailed content to help you improve your marketing skills and get your business out to the world.

Lastly, an online business can provide serious location freedom for those who want to travel. Just like any business, starting something online will take time and hard work.
But the fact it can be so scalable has been truly rewarding for me and many others.
It’s how I travel year round.
It might seem a different way to live and run business right now, but it’s becoming more and more common every year. Especially with the opportunities that are out there for the taking right now.
Go hard, there’s a lot of good stuff you can get stuck into…
Hope to meet you somewhere around the world!
