8 Proven Ways To Earn Money On Social Media
Social media is fun and games for most. But for the creative minds who put in the work, social media has proven to be very lucrative and rewarding, both financially and for the freedom that online work can provide.
Here are some of the best opportunities for those of you wanting to use social media to earn a living (most tested and proven by myself):

fyi… I often earn a commission from products sold on this site. At no extra cost to you of course.
1. Content Creation
How?
Many companies need help in creating attention-grabbing images or videos for Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook ads, etc. Be the person who creates content for businesses.
**Idea: Search for these tasks on Upwork where companies can post tasks for freelancers to complete.
2. Influencer marketing
How?
Build an audience within a niche. The more narrow the better, such as “Cooking” = broad vs “Vegan Baking” = narrow. Then, if the audience is engaged and enjoys what you share, you have options.
- Sell related products to that audience, such as a vegan cookbook or baking equipment.
- Partner with companies who will pay you to recommend their products to your followers (sponsored posts).
- Collaborate with others in your space profit sharing on products sold while helping each other grow their audiences.
To note: You don’t need to create a product or have a product of your own, you can sell other peoples products as an affiliate. We’ll talk about this on our next FREE 1-hour training call (currently happening 2 x weekly, Register Here).
3. Social Marketing Agency
How?
Be a one-stop-shop for companies who need but do not have a social presence. You would usually provide social media services tasks such as creating brand relates social media accounts with branded images and can provide a monthly management fee to create content and post daily/weekly.
4. Blogging
10+ years ago, many people told me “blogging is dead and oversaturated”. I started anyway, and for the last 6+ years, I have been able to travel the world full-time earn a good amount of coin selling products through my website/blog. I do this by sharing blog posts on social media to my followers.
**If you have ever wanted to start a website or blog, read this post and learn how to start a blog for less than the price of a coffee!
5. Paid Advertising (Products or services)
How?
Whether you have a product or service to sell, social media is the most powerful paid advertising tool for many businesses. Run paid ads targeting people interested in your products or services.
Note: This is how I managed to scale my blog from just a few $ per month into a full-time income (over $10k+ per month). I would run many Facebook ads to blog posts and sell products on my site …You may be reading this because of an ad!
6. Freelance Writing
How?
Copywriting is a skill many businesses need. Write social media posts for companies, articles for their site, how-to guides, instruction manuals …Of course, this may not exactly be social media related, but hey, it’s digital and it works!
7. Niche Brands
How?
Grow a social following around a specific niche. To do this, focus on sharing viral type content that people will share. Consistency is key here. Once you have a large following (may take a year or two) sell niche related products to that audience.
Example: Niche=Golf. Sell=Golf Balls, Club Covers, Shirts, Promotional Posts for Brands.
8. Photography & Videography
Social media is the best place to advertise your photography and videography skills. While you should still have a website, use social media to showcase the best of your services. Many engaged couples compare Instagram accounts when finalizing their wedding photographers!
Before you begin:
It’s important to note that the primary focus of social media is to connect people with people. For most, social media is just for fun. Many people get excited about building a large following and getting more ‘likes’ on their social accounts. If you wish to earn a living through social media, it’s important to realize that ‘likes’ do NOT mean money.
To earn a living through social media, you must sell a product(s), or service or partner with companies that will pay you to share their products.
Hope that helps!
